BOOK COVER - WEIGHTS & MEASURES
Brief: To create book covers for a short story known as Weigh and Measures
Summary: The story is about the aftermath of a couple who lose their young daughter and how they both deal with the situation, and how it affects their relationship.
One of the crucial parts of the story is the stars so here I have used origami stars for the book cover.
In the story there was mention of a child’s drawing which i have used as the cover and tried to keep it raw and ironic to the story itself which explores heavier emotions.
For this version, I have created a silhouette of a girl over a teal and red stained background for the sense of sorrow.
The road sign is for school and the illustrations relates well with the ending and showing the father’s situation by the end.
The trees represent the couple and how they both reacted so differently to the situation.
